Last week’s federal court decision forbidding the Trump administration from punishing the AP for refusing to rename the Gulf of Mexico was to take effect Monday. The administration is appealing the decision and arguing with the news outlet over whether it needs to change anything until those appeals are exhausted.

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. circuit set a Thursday hearing on Trump’s request that any changes be delayed while case is reviewed. The AP is fighting for more access as soon as possible.

i know they wouldn’t be getting a conviction, but the dems seriously have to be bringing up impeachment if they want any political future for themselves, and they need to be doing it frequently

Impeachment is a circus act now. I’d rather they spent thier energy actually doing something useful.

Maybe take some police and the court order / decision to the event and force your way in. Then, hold the highest ranking host of the event who is NOT Trump, in contempt and throw them in a shitty jail for a week.

Please, just let the Dems die off and become the neoliberal republicans they’ve always aspired to be.

We need a new party that is actually left of center to even begin repairing this level of damage to the republic.

Dems. Ain’t. It. Too old, too corrupt, and F tier political messaging.

With state level electoral reform, multiple political parties could compete on who could defeat the republicans the best. If any of the new parties don’t do well, people could be free to transfer their vote to the democratic party should they choose to do so. All free of a spoiler effect.

You know, democracy. Democracy is not "vote for my preference or else. That is a hostage situation and should be treated like the crisis it truly is. I want town halls every day taking questions on what voting system to use. Every day until it’s passed. At the bare minimum in the vast majority of blue states.

Republicans are moving to protect First Past the Post voting in states they control. Florida made Ranked choice voting illegal. Alaskan Republicans tried to switch their state from Ranked Choice Voting back to FPTP because Ranked choice voting helped keep Sarah Palin out of office.

Why are the democrats using the voting system that Republicans prefer? Isn’t that the most ultragigagigantic red flag ever if Republicans like something? Especially when it comes to how we vote.

I could tolerate putting the democrats on my ballot as a backup. But I cannot tolerate shitlibs smuggly telling me I dont get to vote how I want and then doing nothing to change the voting system between elections. And not just this last election. Every election throughout my life.

These days the democrats think they got us so locked down, so whipped, so desperate that they can just genocide whoever the fuck they want and they expect us to not only suck and swallow, but to thank them for the opportunity. Big smiles to, or else youre a secret a Russian Republican agent!

          Fuck that.

          Fuck that forever.

We can have a choice in the voting booth. We can have multiple chances to defeat the republicans. We don’t need to beg for representation in government. Its tax day, and we should not accept taxation without representation. The republicans, we all know how they feel about democracy. How do the democrats feel about democracy? This is bare minimum shit here. If we can’t pass this purity test, Republicans don’t need to do anything to topple democracy in this nation, it already doesn’t exist.

We will see how many blue states pass this crucial voting reform before the next election in a year and some. I don’t have any real expectations. People do what’s easy. And what’s easier then doing nothing and screaming how it’s the most important election ever and voters dont get to vote how they want?

          Again.

No, actually ‘Blue no matter who’ quite literally would have prevented this, but a bunch of people decided that a protest vote over a genocide on the other fucking side of the fucking planet being done by a different fucking nation lead by a different fucking leader was a smart and morally correct move.

Short-sighted single issue dipshits across the political spectrum enabled this, just in different ways.

Oh, it’s completely the fault of the voters. It’s also the fault of the DNC’s messaging. The crappy economy (job markets and inflation/unchecked price gouging) meant that the uninformed were just voting for “Not the Party that’s Currently In Power” because the cost of groceries and rent was outstripping their paychecks, and the messaging coming from the DNC was completely tangential to that.

Regular everyday Joes don’t follow politics. Just because we do doesn’t make us representative of the general population. That sort of thinking is what made Trump’s victory a surprise - both times.

Agree with everything you said except that it is not the voters fault.

A lot of people actively avoid learning new things in general, which includes learning about current events and politics.

I’m not attacking them to get them to join my side. I’m pointing out the absurd degree of ass-backwards caveman logic being used to justify letting trump have the presidency. Ultimately, I don’t expect to convince anyone dumb enough to come out into public and argue your point, but I do intend to expose those people as short-sighted fools for getting us into this mess.

You’re not the goal, you’re the playing field. The people who were on the fence and then didn’t vote because of manufactured confusion about which candidate was going to be the best vote for Palestine are the target audience here.

That requires an understanding of institutions as human-constructed entities that, in turn, require human influence and molding because they are not self-regulating systems and cannot be merely competed out of the ecosystem as if you were voting with your dollar as if they were merely brands that you, the consumer, get to leisurely signal you reject or align/identify with.

That’s because impeachment is a political process, not a legal one. Trump is inaccessible to the courts, but they should start holding DoJ and DHS lawyers and officials in contempt and have their marshals detain them.

At the end of the day, trump is just a whiny demented full-grown-toddler giving orders. If his cabinet doesn’t have the balls to 25th him, they should at least stop doing what he says.

Wasn’t this guy impeached last time he was in office? The American people have spoken and we have chosen a dipshit to run the country because most people who voted for him believed that he would hurt the people who are taking advantage of them.
