I love when people get mad that Tom Morello is suddenly political and say they like rage against the machine better before it was political.

Motherfucker, have you listened to a single lyric?

Same with people complaining that Star Wars or Star Trek is too woke or too liberal. When was it ever not?

People turn fascist only to discover that that’s exactly what all their favourite art always opposed.

There’s actually a ton of conservatives that like RATM because they like how it sounds but don’t understand the lyrics. They are often genuinely shocked when they realize.

Conservatives often have very poor media literacy. They’re often not smart or empathetic, because if they were then they wouldn’t be conservative.

They’re so bad at it that they wind up liking media that is directly mocking them. They legit say things like “I liked Stephen Colbert better before he went woke. The Colbert Report was good back in the day.” They completely missed that Larry the Cable Guy is a character. They like Fight Club and The Wolf of Wall Street for exactly the wrong reasons.

You have to be an extremely clueless dumbass to miss the very clear message behind RATM music, and yet they somehow still manage. They must have been sniffing glue while the teacher was going over analysis and annotations.

Education is the solution. It always is. We need to educate the living shit out of all those conservative dipshits so they stop doing so many dumb fucking things.

It’s that simple. Now, if only we had a functioning department of education…

Education is the solution. It always is. We need to educate the living shit out of all those conservative dipshits so they stop doing so many dumb fucking things.

The problem is they think that they are educated and that they have researched these topics by going to websites run by conservative think tanks. Once that’s in their minds, they begin pushing any alternative viewpoint away as liberal propaganda because, in their mind, they’ve already researched it. They can’t even consider that their research might have been compromised from the beginning to lead them to a purposefully wrong conclusion.

It can be corrected, but it takes a LOT of effort to undo 40+ years of misinformation and propaganda being drip fed to the populace through media conglomerates like Fox News, moonlighting as far and balanced sources of information. Purposefully sprinkling bits of reality in to point to when confronted about it.

You’re not actually working to change someone’s point of view on one topic, you’re having to show them that potentially their entire belief system is based on lies and deceit to manipulate them, and not based on reality and facts.

Doesn’t even have to be education, but just some critical thinking skills. Just ask yourself some simple questions, “Why are they doing this?” or “How will this benefit me?”

Frank comes across two police officers who are fans of his. They take a selfie with him and show they have a sticker of his logo on their car before comparing their work to his. Unimpressed, the Punisher tears up the sticker and tells them, “I’ll say this once, we’re not the same. You took an oath to uphold the law. You help people. I gave that up a long time ago. You don’t do what I do. Nobody does. You boys need a role model? His name’s Captain America, and he’d be happy to have you… If I find out you are trying to do what I do, I’ll come for you next.”

      From Wikipedia:

Morello’s father participated in the Mau Mau Uprising (1952–1960) and was Kenya’s first ambassador to the United Nations.[12] Morello’s paternal great-uncle, Jomo Kenyatta, was the first elected president of Kenya.[12] His aunt, Jemimah Gecaga, was the first woman to serve in the legislature of Kenya; and his uncle Njoroge Mungai was a Kenyan Cabinet Minister, Member of Parliament, and was considered one of the founding fathers of modern Kenya.

I couldn’t find a good version of Street Sweepers when Trent Reznor was performing with them, but there’s some really shitty decade old cell phone footage out there lol.

Boots is the fucking truth tho, the female vocalist from that video (Pam the funktress) knew Tupac from before he was famous, and Tupac latched onto Boots and cited him as a political influence.

He’s been around forever, but most people these days know him from the movies and TV shows he writes/directs/produces:
