I’m not going to look into the parent poster’s history, but they are right. As much as I despise Trumpists, the GOP and the media enabling them, RawStory is no better. Whenever I see such headline, I get to say “let me guess… yup. RawStory.” I’m this close to blocking them. I’m done with yellow press, be it from Fox News, Breitbart or, yes, RawStory. Give me something more objective, like APNews*, for example.

What they should do about it is use it to win and keep Trump out of the White House. If they turn it into a criminal law issue it’ll confuse the matter and turn what should be an argument about right vs. wrong into legal vs. illegal. There exists a realm of behavior, quite a large realm in fact, of things that are deplorable but not illegal. Such as waving an ISIS flag, or walking around in a Hitler moustache and armband. That’s where Trump’s behavior fits.

the federal government was a complete mess after the end of trumps term. The supreme court is pushing out unconstitutional rulings that don’t even make sense for it to preside over. The congress is so mind fucked that it can’t even fix basic problems like immigration without impaling itself over it’s own knife. Courts are delaying rulings for no reason other than to push it beyond the election, these courts are also fraught with judges who should be barred (aileen cannon) republican figures themselves are literally lying about shit live on television to garner support for things that don’t exist. Springfield ohio is a terrible place to be right now. People who worked at dominion received constant death threats after fox news ran the dominion story, then got sued and settled for “defamation” as a fucking news company, do you realize how bad you have to fuck up to settle a defamation case immediately? the article is about the Haitian Bridge Alliance filing criminal charges because of the effects the “Haitian immigrants eating our dogs” lie has caused. This has nothing to do with party sides and everything to do with cause and effect. Jd vance openly said on tv that if he has to lie to get people’s attention then he’d do it, and now we’re seeing what happens when you mobilize a large part of the country to harass and discriminate against legal Haitian immigrants who are just trying to live their lives like anyone else.
Now as far as slander goes, the courts would need to decide if malice was involved in the statements that at least one of them has openly admitted to being* false.

There are things that are, and those have absolute immunity (bad) there are also things that have presumptive immunity (which means you have to rule on whether or not these are admissible evidence) and this has had a direct effect on the jan 6th hearing, removing like 9 pages of communication between government officials, which is about all they could remove from the hundreds of pages that were there already.

Stochastic terrorism needs to have more severe criminal penalties for career politicians specifically. Right-wing figureheads have been getting away with this shit for too long.
