Van Hollen and Booker showing how representatives in government should be working for their constituents. I hope their aim is to be as annoying as possible until something good comes of it, but I worry Bukele will just arrest them and further erode the numbers we have in Congress.

It’s not but party unity is also important and we won’t find perfection. Working within the confines of our real world is important but I agree that we need better representatives. Booker is just what our system gave us and he’s a lot better than many alternatives and worse than others.

Mostly I think having a unified message and party is important but hard when you’re dealing with people who actually care.

I get that, really, but where I push back is that our reps push their own voters because they want to take money from special interests. And so we end up with these candidates (who we are told are political “leaders”) who say “the best they can do is X”. We get treated like we’re at a used car dealership by our own supposed representatives and then people argue we cant expect perfection. And then the best they can do is republican lite, so we end up in a republican lite party. Seems the only way out of that is to not let them do that to us.
