  • I know the emotional spiral you are dealing with. I am struggling to not let myself fall into that pattern of behavior any more. I believe in you. You made a simple honest mistake. You aren’t a monster and you don’t have a major moral failing. You are a perfectly reasonable human and made a perfectly reasonable human mistake.

Step one: breath. Take long slow deliberate breathes. Acknowledge you are in an emotionally elevated state and this will make thinking clearly difficult if not possible. I find focusing only on the breathing until I feel like maybe you want a nap is a clear indicator I have done enough. lol.

Step two: Acknowledge what happened objectively without assigning blame. A scheduling mistake was made. This is a detail that is important and easy to get wrong. You are neither the first or the last person to make the same error. You haven’t harmed anyone. At worst some people will be disappointed, yourself included.

Step three: What can be done? Can you adjust reservationa to attend the event? If attending the original event is not possible, can you pivot to doing other things for the reserved times? If not, what can be done to get refunds or sell (at cost) your tickets to other people?

  • To make sure there is not a misunderstanding, the wattage of a PSU is not how much power it will draw. The wattage is how much is can supply. So if you have a 1000w PSU, but all your components draw 200w of power it will use about 200w of power.

Additionally, if you plan to get a lot of HDDs in the future, do some research on power rails. Some PSUs are designed to only be able to supply a small amount of power to things like HDDs because most people only have 1 or 2.

  • Have a calorie tracking app and track everything. You will start to learn how somethings are more calorie dense than others. Don’t have junk food. You will want to snack. Have veggies like carrots or fresh fruit on hand. Drink water first. So many times I “feel” hungry but I am actually thirsty. Load up on broccoli. If you over eat, then have lots of broccoli. It’s filling and not calorie dense. When possible plan your meals ahead of time. It’s brutally hard to make the better diet choice when your hungry. It’s easier to just follow through with a decision you already made.

  • The most rational explanation I have heard is that they are just well dressed hoarders. Acquiring more wealthy is an attempt to smother the bad feelings with the pleasure of “success”. But the pleasure of success is fleeting and the goal posts move every time. So they keep chasing “success” and hoarding wealth to make the bad feelings go away. But that will never heal their emotional issues, so they will never stop.
