My point is that even asking permission is very weird in most cases.

Did Codeberg do something/take some stance to attract the attention of the far right? It feels like such an arbitrary target?
I think this only makes sense if the engaging couple are like super close with the wedding pair. And even then it depends a lot on the personalities of the couple getting married
The problem is that both democrat and republican leadership seems completely controlled by the wealthy capitalists.
Largest to smallest is at best ambiguous. It can refer to the size of the number itself, or the size of the unit.
There is a reason this exact concept in maths/computer science is known as the “significance” of the digit. Eg. The “least significant bit” in binary is the last one.
By keeping years in different folders you are just implicitly creating the ISO format: eg. 2025/"04/28.xls"
Largest to smallest is also wrong. In 2025/01/28, the 28 is larger than the 01.
It should be “most significant” to “least significant”
Because “context -> precision” is exactly the reason someone earlier gave as reasoning for the American system?
I’ve suddenly had a revelation as to why Elon is obsessed with the letter “X”…
I learnt the German word “geil” from context to mean something like “awesome” or " really good".
At some point I went to some mega fancy restaurant, like dressed up fancy and everything. The waiter asks how the entrees were, and I respond “geil”. My wife burst out laughing and later explains to me that while “geil” is used to mean “awesome”, it’s very much slang and actually means “horny”.
I don’t think anyone is deluded into thinking biden/Kamala would be doing anything different, but the fact that trump would be doing it also seemed obvious. So between two people with the same stance on genocide, they at least tried to choose the one with a better stance on trans people in the US.
What i think is a shame is that the concept behind Bitcoin (a decentralized currency) is actually really cool. But as always capitalism happened and basically turned it into a speculative stock market, ruining it.
So it’s at worst an “off-topic discussion”
What argument? They stated an interesting fact (citation needed) relevant to an earlier post. This is what is known as “discussion”.
One special pill the morning after (or immediately if available) is a simpler counter.
In my opinion, different kinds of travel inspire different things. Back in the day, travel necessarily meant mixing a lot with the people and culture you were visiting. Nowadays it’s much easier to travel in a “bubble” with much more limited contact to locals and culture, besides those trying to take advantage of the tourists
I’m sorry, is it discouraged to be self aware? It is very common to have preconceived ideas about things based on media/whatever, however I am trying to be self aware enough to realise that this view isn’t based on very much research, which is why I’m trying to re-evaluate it.
Surely it is far more arrogant to assume I have no ill-informed views, and that I have never been affected by misinformation.
One of the most frustrating things that I see so commonly, is that when there is criticism of the Chinese government, it is almost always redirected into whataboutism about the US.
I’m not from the US or China. My views are that both these governments are terrible, though I admittedly am not very informed about China. But these kinds of non-responses do not help.
Edit: I do realise that this meme itself sort of sets up the comparison, but I just wish we could analyse the actions of each government independently, without making excuses for one by pointing fingers at the other.
Duolingo is good for “tourist style” language learning, where you learn some phrases, can recognise and read a few words, etc, but next to no chance of actually pulling off a proper conversation with a local.
What’s the result? I need someone to tell me what my opinion is
