    No major holidays

    Murica!

Depending on what’s considered major, I’ve had three so far this year.

I had six so far 🙂:
New Years, Good Friday, Easter Monday, Labour Day, Ascension Day, Pentecost.

There are only 4+ ²/₂ official holidays left in the rest of the year though:
German unity day, Reformation day, 2 Christmas Days. Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve are ½ a holiday each.

Individually there’s been a similar number here, but I tend to count several in a row as one, such as all the Easter stuff.

The reason q3 and q4 are slow is because people like you who suffered from severe cranio-rectal inversion a) don’t want to approve vacation and b) won’t let people accrue vacation so everyone suddenly is pressured to take long weekends (instead of a real vacation) towards the end of the year.

Must European countries understand the benefit of holidays. Burning out doesn’t benefit staff, but it’s just fine for shareholders, there’s always someone else to recruit

That is so goddamn industry dependant, it almost hurts.

Right now is exactly when we want people taking time off. It’s slow as fuck, we can mainly get by with smaller teams if we’re caught up on production. Get the fuck off the clock for a week or two, that shit don’t roll over, you’re not getting it paid out, and you’re definitely not getting time off once summer ends.

Well, I really enjoyed my two-week holiday at the start of Q2. Was nice to be at a popular location before all the big crowds come in. No complaints from my manager, only a sincere ‘enjoy your time off!’ So glad we don’t have that toxic Anglo-Saxon work culture here.

Did anyone see the post on LinkedIn? Unwound be quite interested to see the comments to it, but I think she might have deleted it. Unpopular opinion indeed.
