    I used to be against Bluesky because of kinda piggybacking on the whole “next gen” social media thing. But now its gaining track, I am not that sad anymore. Lemmy/Pixelfed/Mastodon could use a tiny amount more users but that’s it for me.

      As much as I’d love for Mastadon to supplant Facebook tomorrow or whatever, maybe slow growth is healthier? The Fediverse (or similar) can outlast enshittification cycles.

        I feel like this is the most important thing, the fediverse needs to last. Fast growth is usually unsustainable, unpredictable and difficult to handle, slow consistent growth is what creates a good ‘social’ platform

        I don’t know. It can definitely get enshittified by outside companies starting to spam advertisements, bringing a lot of work to the admins. It’s probably best if it happened slowly so it can be dealt with in a structural manner, so I agree slow growth is healthier.
