I posted this in Privacy, and News.ml
They were both removed for “off topic” and “lemmy rules”. Good times. It’s fun to see them literally censor news reports about censorship in China.

This, by the way, is actual real freedom of speech censorship. It’s censoring anyone that talks about the government.

Also, i love that they banned an .ee account for six months. That’s just extra special sauce.

thats why you block the triad of extremism, lemmyml, hexbear, and lemmygrad. these people are delusional to think russia and china are actually on the left, they are more to the right than anything.

Just don’t contribute to their communities. There is another privacy community that’s more discuss permissive

Do you mean the Privacy community on lemmy.ml?

I got temporarily banned there after criticizing the Russian invasion of Ukraine, and a moderator proceeded to remove most of my comments from the thread. Only the ones with >0 upvotes, interestingly. I give the ML mods brownie points for technique, at least.

(Regarding if “off topic” is PTB: I’m not sure if AI generation specifically regarding Tianmen square is on-topic for privacy, but I imagine it would be at home in communities discussing technology, AI, even free speech. But let’s be fair, it’s definitely pretense for an unwarranted instance-wide ban. Far more PTB than BPR.)

You’ll find most of those in the sidebar (except AI, but I figure you’re good with that one)

YDI. Once I posted article in c/palestine about how china was supporting the genocide. It caused some discussion. I mostly stayed away and I wasn’t banned… But, if I had started to post in the sub every day about it, then I would probably be banned. The sub is about palestine. It’s not about singling out china’s role when there are plenty of other culpable parties.

Similarly, the topic of China, “AI”, and “Tiananmen Square” are tired as fuck. I’ve seen version of this story for months if not years. It’s just some corny gotcha at this point. Like any technology “AI” will be used by capital and its state for evil as we have already seen. Grow up and stop with the sinophobic bullshit.
