I joined but I only see messages saying “it was not possible to decrypt message”
It’s encrypted, it can sometimes take a but for the keys to propagate.

I believe the group chat is hosted on the matrix.org instance which is geographically located in the UK.
Which makes this even more fitting :)!
This community has made me realize how we have more alternatives to US than I ever realized. I hope my sisters and brothers over at canada are also finding european products an alternative to those things that canada itself doesn’t have!
