The people around me argue the exact opposite. When they have a desktop, they already have a hige library of games that they dont have to ourchase. But even the ones that dont have a desktop usually get persuaded when I tell them waht some games cost during sales.
I don’t have a Switch, but back with the Wii I got one despite being a big PC gamer because its games were so different from the PC, PS or Xbox games.
And the Switch 2 will probably sell as many consoles in the first week as the Deck did in its entire lifetime. They’re just not in the same league.
But the Switch 2 will very probably also not nearly sell as much as the Switch 1. But Nintendo probably already know that. The next generation will be the interesting console. Who knows what they will come up with. Maybe they’ll manage to somehow make VR more accessible.
Yes, I agree that the Steam Deck is a lot more niche. But nintendo has a lot bigger goal to fullfill, especially because they are shareholder driven. The Wii U sold twice as much as the steam deck now but it was considered a major flop still. I think the switch 2 will go the same route if they don’t lower the price to 300$. Especially since it has an even worse screen than the OLED switch.

Edit: And I’m answering to a 3 day old comment…

Fair enough. Steam sales are a pathway to deals some consider unnatural, or so the saying goes. Especially with things like Humble Bundle.
