I already know about matrix and revolt, what I have in mind is a bit different, for years now, I’ve had a private server in discord that is just for storing images, info and other things quickly and easily, it’s simple media picker, fast upload, categories/folders via channels and already being an app I had open all the time on all my devices has made it very useful for my needs
But alas, with the enshitification of discord, I need an alternative, so that I can move everything I’ve stored, before it all goes to shit, ideas?
catbox.moe
Abusing it is part of the reason (part of it) discord made files expire. You are/were abusing discord.
Yeah, originally I just used it for reaction images to quickly grab and send when I was in high school, eventually grew to a lot more, and now I need to bail, but need to save what’s there and find an alternative that is dedicated to this purpose
That is a hard one, you might look into ope source drive solutions, but that would require some setup and if you use a lot of space then also money.
To answer your question, I don’t endorse the following solution, but I think it would still be 1% better than using Discord: If you already have Telegram, you can use Whitehole.
Signal? Telegram?
Any cloud storage service? Everything from Dropbox to Nextcloud

Those I’ve found have terrible upload and download rates and generally an awful interface
Why not combine a good image storage service with a easy-to-search database?
I don’t need this kind of thing, so I can’t give great suggestions, but I’ve been told catbox.me is a good provider and a lot of people use Notion.
Edit: Replied to the wrong comment.
Syncthing
The thing about sync thing is that I would need to have sufficient storage across all devices, I already use sync thing for specific cases already
So, you need a file server or remote power on.
