For recipes we use fluid ounces or cups since gallons are kind of a large for that. It’s actually a mixed system, similar to the UK but with less metric in the mix.

Liter is French for give me some fucking Cola.
We use both for some reason. Soda is usually sold in 2 liter bottles.
We use liters for soft drinks and liquor, but gallons for fuel, milk, and water. For recipes we use fluid ounces or cups since gallons are kind of a large for that.
