I love the hate the DNC gets now. I’m also confused how the DNC’s mandate isnt to be entirely apolticial.
Of course not. They can’t accept that their most passionate base actually wants progressive platforms, not centrist pop pandering. Dems are too worried about being “safe” and trying to steal votes from conservative-centrists. If they actually showed bills and votes to invigorate the actual progressives, they just might get some loyal backing.
Gavin Newsom may sound smart, but he’s got his hands in your pockets stealing your money to feed the rich, kinda like the current emperor in chief.
Newsom is a slaveholder
Y’all know there’s still house and some Senate elections coming up next year right?
You know what would show America and the Democrats (and Republicans for that matter) that Americans are finally serious about a 3rd party candidate? Supporting and electing 3rd party candidates in the House and Senate.
Ok, I try to be polite, and I generally agree you don’t win arguments by saying shitty things, but whoever downvoted this is either a bad actor or has rocks for brains. I’m sorry to be so crass, but it needed to be said.
If only there were elections being held between 2025 and 2028 with less at stake than a presidential election. That way Americans on the left and right could come together and prove to the establishment parties that they would actually show up to vote for a 3rd party candidate for a presidential election.
It would be such a shame if angry Americans used this information to get involved in local politics and promoted ethical candidates who weren’t purchased by a corporation ASAP
What would a 3rd party look like? Only person that comes to mind is jill stein whos a russian mouthpiece
One that doesn’t take corporate donations would be start.
Another method is 3rd parties forming locally as grassroots organizations and then forming a coalition party to back 3rd party candidates on the national level.
Sort of how you have a few caucuses in the Democratic Party like the Farm-Labor Part in Minnesota, or Independents who caucus with the Democrats like Bernie who could be peeled off to back a 3rd party of even just flatly Independent candidates.
Example of a 3rd party: The Democratic party refuses to back and fund AOC as a candidate. American citizens crowd source her campaign so she runs as an independent
DNC will throw the election before putting a progressive into the race
This is why the primary will be so important, and why Biden basically handed the win to Trump by pushing Harris instead of having a primary.
It shouldn’t have mattered who the candidate was. When the opponent is an authoritarian bigot intentionally harming minorities you do whatever it takes in the moment to triage the situation and prevent generational destruction. Then you march/riot…etc and demand change from whoever the Dem president is. I blame the absent voters for ignoring the bleeding patient from the drunk driver accident and instead standing to the side demanding no more drunk drivers.
Our entire system being like a hostage situation doesn’t help, plurality voting is shit to begin with. I don’t blame people.
Maybe, but the only way I can believe that is if we believe Biden was a far better candidate that Harris. Biden mopped the floor in the Democrats primaries everywhere they were held. Florida and Delaware were the only states that didn’t hold them if I remember, and Biden had something like 87% of the votes for Democrats. We say they meaningless, but the last time the Democrats were in the same position was 2012 voting in an incumbent. Obama got 2/3rds the votes that Biden did. 8 million, vs the 12 million votes for Biden.
The delegates could have flipped when Biden left but didn’t. Its a much higher likelyhood that there the issue was more people were not willing to vote for her for being a woman or being black. If people think that 1-2% of the voters aren’t racist or sexist in Georgia, Michigan etc they are off their rocker. A 1-2% moved from Democrat to Republican vote was enough to lose states like that.
So if Biden had not run at all, and sent it to Primaries, would that percentage have been enough to get her not to win the primary? I kind of doubt it.
AOC is a clear choice, I’d say Bernie but I’m already tired of old people in power.
AOC is young, in touch with actual issues, in touch with the generations that are moving the economy, knows the struggle since she used to be a waitress and so far I haven’t seen her go crazy on anyone else’s agenda or buying stocks and enriching herself beyond measure like damn old hag Pelosi.
AOC《》Jon stewart
Bernie as whip
The dream team 😍
Which is exactly why she wont be a presidential candidate ever.
Don’t say ever, the democrats still need to win elections… (that is that there are still elections that mean anything…)
If it is not Bernie, AOC I ain’t going to vote. Also ain’t voting for anyone funded by AIPAC.

Sadly, you are correct. Neither Kamala nor Gavin can win. But I’d prefer Kamala to Gavin, which is how bad Gavin is.
I prefer Gavin to Trump.
But not, you know, a lot.
That’s how much I hate Gavin.
We all like AOC here on Lemmy, but are enough of the old ass “liberals” going to join us so she can actually get elected? Seems highly unlikely to be honest.
I’d love to see it happen though. That’s what primaries are for. The Dems should try one of those. It’s been a while.
I hope nobody tries showing the establishment parties that Americans would actually show up to vote for a 3rd party candidate as president, by electing as many 3rd party candidates as they could in elections with less at stake occuring throughout the country between now and 2028. Boy, what a waste of time that would be.
Bernie and AOC seem to be hoovering up the MSNBC liberal boomer demographic at this point because that demo has finally snapped and the dems leadership is completely absent.
That, however, probably won’t translate into a progressive/socialist candidate winning the next presidential primary. They might have a stronger showing but dem leadership will move to protect their donors and stifle that candidate.

I’m 45. Am I old enough to be an old ass liberal? I love AOC and I hope she succeeds.
I’m talking 70’s, 80’s, and up. I’m also in my 40s.
Aww shit 40s gang rise up!
Pelosi showed us already the Democratic party won’t let aoc sniff a primary
Can we do ranked choice primaries?
That would solve a lot of problems, so … no.
The DNC would rather acquiesce power to Republicans than risk handing it to an anti-corporate candidate so… No.
No.
ಠ_ಠ
lmfao I agree that we need ranked choice voting, I just don’t think we’re going to see it anytime soon. It would be nice though.
The great thing about the orange turd- gurgler, is that he’s so bad, even the bad democrats might be popular enough to elect in enough numbers to have the majority to get things done - if our republic survives.
My thinking is that we need the dems that we can get into office, then work on replacing them with better ones, as we go. The moderates definitely need to go away… enough with the “meeting in the center,” when the center is always moving to the right.
The voters need to have realistic expectations as well - we’ve been in decline since the '70s - it won’t be fixed in 4 or 8 years, but nothing is going to be fixed at all, so long as corporations and billionaires are in charge.
Trump is still popular. Dems are in an ouroboros of cope right now with no way out. They’ve basically been in charge for two decades and done nothing. If they want to get elected it will have to be on a populist platform without all of woke BS. (e.g. an anti-Trump version of Trump) Ironically Trump’s campaign borrowed a ton of messaging from Bernie Sanders. No surprise that he won considering Democrats pushed Bernie and his grievances out of the way a decade ago in favor of perhaps the most well-connected, corporatist technocrat to ever run for President.
I’m a progressive, but also a pragmatist and a realist, and I find these kind of complaints unhelpful and naive. Politics is a blood sport and it always has been. No one is going to hand AOC the reins of power. She has to win them, and her opponents aren’t going to play fair. This is, sadly, how the game is played. Don’t mourn. Organize!
and her opponents aren’t going to play fair
Sure, but they’ll whine and cry if a progressive doesn’t play fair. And they sure insist on playing fair when dealing with Republicans.
They are very selective on when to be unfair.
Just a few weeks ago there were left voices mad that the party wasn’t preventing Andrew Cuomo’s campaign to be mayor of NYC. I didn’t see any one on the left crying foul over suggesting the party shouldn’t play fair.
“No! It’s her turn!”
-people who complain about DNC insiders.
Funny meme though
The supervillains are still in charge thinking up ways to destroy anyone and anything opposing them to ensure the superiority of their greedoid ultraconservatism, while the supposedly “enlightened” people who are supposed to fight those bastards as a united front are instead fighting over recriminations, ideological rivalries, and supposed levels of moral purity.
Enlightened people should be enlightened enough to grasp the power of violence
Yes, let’s get preemptively angry at those not currently in power for something we assume they’ll do!
It’s truly the “progressive” way. That and never actually voting in a primary.
Hard to when Democrats don’t give them one to vote in
I keep voting for these losers every time and super cool very smart people like you keep blaming me for them being losers, it’s fucking awesome.
Yes, we’re losing and the world is descending into fascist ruin.
But at least I get to feel smugly superior!
This is not that different from the monsters on the other side who are destroying their economy and the standing of the country.
But at least they get to feel racist and abusive to brown people!
