Wow, I mean the first like 3 books are actually quite good (there was a void for this kind of writing, “serious” fantasy, and still exist IMO), but the rest was just mediocre. Especially from book 5 and onwards.
The first movie is pretty good IMO, but that’s because it gets to introduce all of the creative (if highly derivative) world building.
Past that, they rely more and more on quality of writing more than merely existing in a neat (if a bit nonsensical and still highly flawed) world. So… yeah, entertainment value dips off pretty hard.
