Eddie Munsen is going to be Johnny Storm. I can see that. I don’t really know the actors playing Sue or the Thing.

Pedro Pascal is a fun actor, and can bring a mix of levity and pathos to the role, but the problem with every single depiction of Reed Richards is the physics of his stretchy powers necessarily fall into the uncanny valley. On the pages of a comic, you can draw noodly arms zig zagging off of his s-shaped torso. In a live action movie, your brain rejects the offset center of gravity. For a genius, he’s never figured out how the length of a lever increases the downward force?

You see a little bit of that with Groot, but his whips and appendages break off and act in plausible ways (for a sentient tree). Ms. Marvel doesn’t stretch at all, and uses hard light projections, which was a good idea in my opinion.

Eh, the acting matters most in terms of casting. It’s the writing that has made previous FF attempts meh at best.

Maybe with the MCU having stayed true to the essence of characters, there’s hope that they’ll finally get it right here.

All of that being said, I am dubious of their casting choices here. Pascal is a good actor, I’m just not sure he can capture the character he’s playing and sink into it. There’s also the fame factor. You get too popular an actor and it can break immersion for some viewers. I don’t usually have that problem, but it does happen from time to time. So far in the MCU, the only times it happened for me was with less focal characters (Odin, as an example), so the immersion break didn’t matter.

Not that the FF are a personal favorite of mine, but it gets old seeing them done poorly.

Also, with this, if they’re dumb enough to try and do another origin story movie, they’re idiots. Toss in a scene that covers it in some way and just tell a good fucking story. We already know who the FF are, so rehashing the details is just a waste of everyone’s time. Anyone that’s not into comics and/or hasn’t run into the characters in some way knows someone that can explain the details and it will be way more fun for everyone than repeating something that’s been done so many times before.
