Critical mass is still a ways away I think. I have noticed a stream of new accounts recently, some of which seem to be the type of dedicated users who post a lot, which has created a marked uptick in activity.
But critical mass - which I define as active niche non-tech communities thriving without having to rely on a single user doing 99% of the posting - is not achieved yet. I think probably at least the 100k MAU barrier has to be breached for that, if not more.
Agreed. General sports community like [email protected] are still very quiet. Once they get busier, that will be a good sign.
I feel like the move off of .world probably lost that community some momentum, but that might not be true I don’t know. It’s been a bit more active recently though than for a long time, so that’s a good sign.
It was quiet on world too, and the pinned post there still redirects to the new one.
I was also posting there more, maybe that has an influence as well
I was just looking at the subscriber count difference a few days ago and noticed the stark difference. But most of those .world subscribers could be dead accounts.
