Most young children do need to be walked to school, or pre-school, if you will, and not just that - parents need to make sure that they had a proper breakfest, that they got dressed well, that they brushed their teeth, that door must be locked properly, the lights turned off… Young children are still learning basic things each in their own pace, and although they can often do a lot by themselves, they cannot be relied on completely - the parents are the ones with the responsibility. They cannot just leave and let their pre-shool or young school child take care of everything.
Doesn’t change the fact that many parents do and it would be a massive voter issue if a law for picking between winter/summer time were to be proposed.

No they don’t need to be driven nor walked. My whole country sends 5 year olds to walk to kindergarten, nevermind 7 year olds to school.
Parents who don’t give their children any responsibility are doing them a great disservice.

We are in agreement. It is a problem that needs to be solved.
But solving the problem first would make us keep changing the time twice a year for a much longer time. I suggest getting rid of time changes first.
