We are always headed for a crash. That’s the cycle of capitalism without strong regulatory mechanisms to mitigate it. I believe it is every 4-7 years that a crash has happened in the last 300 years.

I thought Monkeys Paw had adverse outcomes.
I can’t see them on Voyager so they de facto don’t exist lol
I don’t disagree entirely, but I think we’re just slightly off here. Part of the momentum behind Mamdani’s primary win in NY is the foundational movement building that Bernie and AOC have been doing for years, and particularly with the fight oligarchy tour. This is not nothing; NY mayor is one of the most important positions we could capture, even if it’s not radical.
I agree that we don’t have time for these mainstream do-nothing Democratic politicians like Cory Booker, Hakim Jeffries, and Chuck Schumer. Fuck em. But if we organize and fight, we can make electoral strategy a key part of our agenda and actually win. Elections are not the only space where we can fight and win too!
Let’s not be overly optimistic OR pessimistic at this point. We’re getting close, but we’re not there yet. I think we can still turn this around without organizing militias, even though it absolutely constitutes legitimate self defense at this point.
Stopping these terrorists with force is a moral necessity if no other way exists.
I’ll take the cloaca one every time. They got damn fine choices.
That tracks. The AI push is extraordinarily premature. It makes sense that capitalist idiots see mass layoffs as improvement, but rational people do not.
We should call lemmy “reddit’s bottom of the barrel”.
One of the things we often forget is that a large part of our happiness is simply autonomy and self direction. I still remember working a “dreary office job” that I absolutely loved because we were given self direction and the managers were simply there to support us.
You’re right, of course. I think it’s more like there isn’t much of an upgrade in lifestyle in general. Sure, it’s an order of magnitude more wealth, but you can do basically all of the most luxurious things in life.
For most luxury, you’re staying at the same presidential suite and driving the same car and that kind of thing. It’s not diminishing returns necessarily. I dunno.
Mamdani. He’s so hot right now. Mamdani.
I’m just gently teasing you because I was 29 years old when Chrome came out. My parents would never have even thought to ask someone to install something like that when the internet first came out.
“Hey, so now that Chrome has been released, we’re gonna fly up to visit your son and install a packet sniffer on his network!”
Yes, you can use their exact build environment straight from GitHub. You can also use Molly.im which is another app that i think is a fork? Im still investigating it.
That’s kind of a core tenet of libre/open software, innit? Independently verifiable software that you can change at your pleasure.
I was looking at Molly.im and it has its own f-droid repo. There are two options: with and without Google servicios.
I think this was changed in Washington. I’m not sure if you can still write physical paper opioid scripts.
