Yes, this IS Resident Evil 9. The aesthetic looks cool, but surprisingly serious for a RE game.

Conceptually it could be fun. Although I feel the (ridiculously expensive) fakeout all night meant we all thought this was Parasite Eve and RE9 is just a letdown after that.

Hopefully she becomes a MC real fast because I apparently have visceral reactions to the trope of “barely functional analyst girl”. At best it is annoying. More commonly it is thinly veiled misogyny and fetish bullshit.

I really like this angle of the story. Re series is my fav right after subnautica, and this looks different which after the whole slew of remakes is so refreshing! Im actually excited! (I didnt mind ethan winters in 7 but 8 got to be too much, i enjoy changing protagonists for once or introducing new blood)

If this is a first person game I will pass. I get motion sickness from certain type of first person games and the RE first person games make me sick very quickly. It’s weird since I can play games like CS or CoD for hours, but first person exploration games I can’t handle.

Same issue. This is usually caused by the field of view(FOV). You can adjust it in some games.

Considering that 8 added a third-person mode, I’d be surprise if this didn’t have one.

    Tentatively curious.

What was shown of the hotel reminds me of REVII. I’m not sure how it ties to Raccoon, aside from the fact that the protagonist is the daughter of a character from Outbreak, but Raccoon City post-nuke is an interesting setting to explore — and regular zombies seem to be a returning enemy? I’m not sure if they are planning to have flashback sequences during the outbreak, or if the zombies will make an appearance in the present day timeline).

Happy to see a new MC. Ethan was okay-ish but painfully bland, I hope she’ll be more interesting.

That’s a wrap, this was the last reveal for SGF. Some small trailers haven’t been uploaded yet but that’s all the announcements.

I’m down. Recent RE games have been a very fun time.

The more time passes the more 5 and 6 begin to seem like temporary missteps.

I just wanna say me and a buddy played through 5 in co-op and had a great time. Chris Redfield can explode a fucking boulder with his fists and it’s great.

        Oh we did the same.

5 and 6 are a BLAST with a buddy. Throughout 5, we kept randomly asking each other, “oh hey, this is a horror game, right” as the latest ridiculous action bullshit was happening on-screen, and laughing our asses off.

In 6 in particular, in Ada’s campaign, she is alone… But since everything had to support co-op, for her missions a character called “agent” shows up. He’s just a faceless soldier for player 2 to play as, and every time he disappeared for the duration of a cutscene, and re-appeared for gamplay, it absolutely destroyed us.

Stuff like Ada clearly going through a door, alone, but then him somehow showing up on the other side the second the animation is over, happens CONSTANTLY.

We had this whole head-canon about how he’s an Ada simp that’s always there, just out of frame, and invisible to all the characters. A mysterius man even more unexplained than Ada.

They’re absolutely atrocious RE games, but some of the best fun you can have with a friend.

I absolutely love when games do that. Just a random, faceless dude for the second player that isn’t acknowledged at all by the plot. My favorite coop games growing up were all like that.

It’s especially funny in RE6, because it contrasts with how all the other campaigns had playable, in-universe, part-of-the-story characters for player 2 to control. To the point that playing single player they’re still there as dumb NPCs.

And then when Ada is supposed to be solo, everything feels funnier with the bolted-on co-op.

I beat 5 on one player. Wish I known it was a co op game. It sucked as ome player the Ai in the woman she take all the ammo and health potions. And no you couldn’t take them back.

I’d add 4 into that list. I really hated that game. I never played 5 though. Maybe I should give it a go.

It’s going to get to the point where you might not live long enough to see the next installment of a series. Kinda scary to think about.
