Exactly. I’m a terrible liar, can’t do it to save my life, so I have huge… well, not really respect, but maybe bafflement towards people who are able to spout this caliber of bullshit with a straight face.

It happens more often than you’d think these days. They pretend to be a dasher, the police, a maintenance worker, a tree trimming service. Anything to get in the door, especially if they’re already planning on violence.

Obviously you still shouldn’t shoot at people just for being in your driveway or at your door though.

I’ve been robbed exactly as described.

EDIT: I lied. Never been robbed at knife point by men acting a role to get my door open. I’m secretly a right-wing plant meant to sow paranoia. Never happened.

It might be bullshit, but it’s also hardly a stretch. Home invasions do in fact happen, and anybody with half a brain would pretend to have a reason to be there. Door dash, etc make an easy cover that’s not hard to pull off.

That doesn’t support shooting at a fleeing driver or a bunch of other crazy shit in this instance, and it shouldn’t make anybody paranoid that every delivery driver might be there to kill them. The guy with a pizza box walking up your front sidewalk is overwhelmingly likely to be delivering a pizza.

Had some valuables that the local lowlifes found out about, by sending their kids over to spy through the windows. They sent two thugs, big and small, brains (heh) and muscle.

They knocked on the door pretending to be friends of friends, saying someone needed help. Opened the door and out came the knives. Got slammed into the corner and told to STFU while they got what they came for.

And BTW, just because real life doesn’t fit your white boy, suburban background, fuck you.

That’s not a counterargument, these are unfortunately things that really happen irrespective of how you percieve them, and I’m a leftist. No reason to be a smarmy little fuck.

        Bullshit.

shooting at the DoorDash driver’s car on 2 May as the person was trying to leave Reilly’s property.

Stop making excuses for shitty people.

No, it happens, unfortunately. No one’s making excuses for this crazy asshole in the article. You’re just reading way too far into what I said and you’re assuming I must feel like this was justified. It wasn’t. But if the question is, as it was, “what kind of home invader rings the doorbell?” The answer is “uh, plenty of them do that.”

If you, in good faith, believe otherwise, then congrats on living somewhere without an abhorrent rate of violent crime. You are officially privileged enough to be delusional. Now educate yourself.

Dude was driving away and the guns were illegal. Not in that they couldn’t be made legal they just chose not to likely because they’re an official and assumed they could get away with it.

Home invasion? How quaint! That was a thing 20 years ago. I mean, not actual home invasions. They were quite rare, just like they are now. Fear of home invasions as part of the national zeitgeist, though, where it’s in the media all the time, and we make movies about it.

This guy needs to keep up. It’s autistic trans illegals now. (And if he’d said he thought the guy was an ICE agent, I might have had a moment of sympathy.)

You can bet that conservative propaganda outlets are pushing the narrative that autistic trans illegals are breaking into homes, cleaning out medicine cabinets and replacing them with fentanyl or something equally as batshit.

Video clips from Reilly’s Ring doorbell camera, obtained by TV station News 12 and the Times Union, show the series of events. One clip shows the driver walking up to Reilly’s front door with a plastic bag and ringing the doorbell. Another, from a short time later, appears to show the driver back in his car and Reilly exiting his house with a handgun. Reilly then fires a shot into his front lawn while saying, “Go.”

The video then shows Reilly shooting at the car as the driver is making a three-point turn in the driveway. He fires a third shot as the car is driving away.

Kenniff and his firm also represented Daniel Penny, who was acquitted of criminally negligent homicide in December in connection with the chokehold death of Jordan Neely on a New York City subway in 2023.

Police executed a search warrant at Reilly’s house and seized eight illegally possessed guns, including the .45-caliber handgun used to shoot the driver, Hoovler said. While Reilly had a federal license to sell firearms, he did not have a  New York state firearms license or pistol permit, making his possession of the guns illegal, Hoovler said

Sounds like a real cool guy who shouldn’t be flensed and left to bake in the sun.
