But Paxton claimed in the press release that he was “extremely troubled by the allegations that Media Matters, a radical anti-free speech organization, fraudulently manipulated data on X.com” and wanted to “ensure that the public has not been deceived by the schemes of radical left-wing organizations who would like nothing more than to limit freedom by reducing participation in the public square.”
How did they supposedly manipulate data on X? Did they hack into the servers? Modern republicans have no problem lying openly. They are nakedly corrupt.
Further down:
The problem with Paxton’s argument is that" it “ignores the body of law that prohibits government officials from subjecting individuals to retaliatory actions for exercising their rights of free speech,” Edwards wrote, suggesting that Paxton arguably launched a “bad-faith” probe.
And no problem acting in bad faith. Every thing they say and do is in bad faith. There’s no attempt to mask it at all anymore. I’m glad MMFA won and I hope they win the rest of the case and get a nice fat judgement. At taxpayer expense, of course, because their leadership in Texas wants to pick fights that violate the constitution they so pretend to love (like passing bills to put the ten commandments in schools; fucking asshole lunatics) and then getting their asses handed to them in court. No attempt to build infrastructure or enrich the lives of their constituents, just burning everything down.
Edit: a word.
I think they mean “Ken ‘Indicted for state securities fraud’ Paxton”.
And yet dumb fucking people keep voting for that criminal
