Thafuq is a “Spapnie”? 🤢
I think it’s Sparnie, there’s a leg on that second P. Looking it up, seems Sparnies is a “Sarnie” shop, which I guess is a British term for a sandwich?
Sarnie is indeed slang for a butty
(For those not from the UK, “butty” is another word for a piece.)
Piece of …? Bread? Cake? Ass?
They didn’t say “a piece of,” just “a piece.” Since we’re talking about slang and since “a piece” is slang for “a gun,” we’re forced to conclude that the advertisement is for a gun shop.
But guns are biceps, so clearly it’s a gym / fitness studio.
Oh, true. And it being a gym also supports the “ass” angle.
I like “butty” being slang for a piece of ass better.
Because “fanny” is vagina over there?
(For those not from the UK, “piece” is another word for a filled breadcake.)
What’s a breadcake? Is it bread or cake? You have to pick one…
Is this why British food sucks?
Clarifies a certain schoolyard nickname, apparently.
Isn’t piece slang for cob?
we call it a barm round these parts
But this says sparnies, not sarnies. And does it include chips?
Looks like Sparnies is the shop name (it’s based in a place called Leamington Spa). No sign of chips sadly.
Yup–a sarnie shop in a Spa town. See what they’ve done there…
