It’s great to hear recommendations of European brands but posting ads and framing them as “honest” irks me out a bit. It’s still an ad and posted without any context or personal insight to accompany it.

This whole community sometimes irks me. I get you need to buy stuff to get about but it feels very consumeristic. Like when I visit the comm I feel like I’m being told I should buy things that I probably don’t need.

I try to post reminders from time to time that the first decision people should make is to buy used stuff. Maybe it’s time for another one.

          Yeah that sounds good.

Like tbh except for very fancy people or people who live somewhere with no thrift shops, there’s really no reason to buy a fancy belt. You can get a beautiful looking 40 year old one that will last you another 40 years for 2 euro 50 at the thrift store.

Yes the Buy European and Buy Canadian are essentially free advertising for the companies, I did feel a little weird about my post promoting chips.

But the idea is that we get people looking at brands that are based in that area to select over ones made in USA or elsewhere which will help influence their search and show that we don’t have to be dependent on USA in many areas.

Some local brands are big and established and don’t need promotion but I think some startup and smaller brands being promorwd here is fine I think.

”50,000 men have made the switch” what does that even mean? Are they now exclusively using this belt? Only buying belts made from this brand? Are they measuring monthly active users? It’s not a cellphone carrier, you’re allowed to have multiple belts.

I mean, I’ve been using literally the exact same belt for years. If it wears out and I buy a different belt then I’ll have effectively “switched” to that style.

Just link the site and give a product summary and your experience if any, we don’t need to see the marketing.

I bought my current belts from Vegan Store in London (🇬🇧 UK). The belts that they sell are made in 🇵🇹 Portugal from 🇮🇹 Italian vegan leather. They were shipped to me (🇩🇪 Germany) from a warehouse in the 🇳🇱 Netherlands. I am quite satisfied with them.

I bought a no name belt in Primark in London in 2014 for 2 pounds and I’ve used it every day since then and it still holds up.

I got a great belt from Klamra as a gift. Beautiful brass buckle design and solid leather belt (not thin leather that’s stitched together). Even came with good instructions for personalizing the fit. Plus you’re contributing to the Ukrainian economy! Klamra

I got some off them from Kickstarter. I think the company was called different, but completely the same thing

Was actually a nice belt and I got a second one. But both were dead after like 2 years.

I have to admit though, that I wore them exclusively

        Yeah, exactly! Harmattan

In one the spring broke and it didn’t lock anymore.

And with the other one…phew… Don’t remember anymore, but couldn’t be that bad, because I’ve re-ordered another set.

But they just didn’t hold up as good as I’d have expected.

Lanx make belts now as well as shoes and other accessories. If their belts are as good as their shoes… I’d be very happy
